Athough Garfield’s disdain for the accordion is quite evident in his comic strips, nothing irritated "Polka Joe" more than the cat's weeklong bashing of accordion players. (May 1999) He protested outside the town newspaper that runs the comic strip. The protest was cleverly staged by Bobby Z. He even plays accordion in the segment filmed for Comedy Central on a street in Plains, Pennsylvania, alongside Billy "K" Kuklewicz (Accordion) and Chris Ell (Kilbassy).
